Our Client is looking for a Legal Counsel to join a fast growing in-house legal team to help advise on increasing oil and gas projects. Your work will involve advising on a wide variety of transactions for clients of the Group in the oil & gas sector, as well as broader energy and infrastructure industries. This will mean advising on strategic investments, joint ventures, and project development. You will be handling international matters, including large multi-jurisdictional deals.

Ideally, you will be 5-7 PQE within a respected oil & gas practice whether in-house and/or in private practice. You must have substantial energy experience within the infrastructure sectors, with a particular focus on upstream oil and gas.

This is an excellent opportunity to step up the quality of your work and work with clients directly gaining a wide variety of international experience. You will be working closely with the General Counsel and the Commercial Team as well as outside counsel. These services span the entire economic upstream cycle, from new ventures, through exploration, appraisal and development to asset acquisitions and disposals. This is an onshore project which will involve the development of a gas pipeline to be designed and constructed.

You will take the lead in advising on all aspects of the pipeline project, including: the reviewing, drafting and negotiating, pipeline shareholders' agreement, transportation agreement and construction and other project related procurement contracts; working with external counsel and financial advisers on project financing initiatives; liaising with multiple stakeholders internally and externally; and supporting the business on project planning and scheduling. This is a challenging role and will require someone who can take a proactive approach and use their own initiative to overcome issues. The individual will be based in London and will be expected to travel to Russia and Kurdistan for meetings on a regular basis.

As a qualified solicitor admitted in England and Wales or Scotland, you will also be able to demonstrate significant experience in the following areas:

  • International pipeline construction projects, including EPC, turnkey contracts, O&M agreements, transportation agreements, host government agreements and shareholders' agreements;
  • Upstream oil & gas field developments, joint operating agreements and production sharing agreements;
  • Project financings; and
  • Sound commercial agreement drafting skills.

Please note our advertisements use PQE/salary levels purely as a guide. However we are happy to consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary to fulfil the role.
