Legal Counsel; Prestigious Hotel Group

Our client is the award-winning owner and operator of some of the world’s most prestigious luxury hotels and resorts. The group is currently experiencing unprecedented growth, and at this exciting time in its development, has a need for further legal resources in its Head Office.

The Legal Counsel for Asia Pacific will report directly to the Group Counsel in Hong Kong, and be responsible for assisting the Group Counsel in overseeing all of the company’s legal issues affecting the group worldwide. This position will in particular provide legal support to the group’s general corporate and commercial development activities in Asia Pacific, including:

• Draft, review and negotiate legal documentation, especially with developers for new hotel and branded residence projects in Asia Pacific;
• Provide legal advice to entities within the group's corporate structure;
• Negotiate and prepare major contracts for the group to ensure its interests are adequately protected;
• Provide legal advice and support to the hotels and resorts or if appropriate, assist hotel management to seek necessary legal advice and support;
• Protect and manage the group’s intellectual property rights.

Required skills and experience:

• Substantial legal experience in the hospitality industry, especially management contracts, is a must;
• Good law degree, preferably in a common law jurisdiction;
• Faultless fluency in English;
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills;
• Excellent negotiating and drafting skills;
• Ability to work independently while interacting with and advising all levels of the organization.

This is an exciting, rare opportunity for a seasoned lawyer with experience in the hotel industry and with working on hotel management contracts. Our client will look at candidates who have between circa 5 and 10 years' PQE. The ideal candidate already works in the hospitality industry, but candidates from private practice who have solid experience working with clients in the hotel/hospitality industry will also be considered. You will be a professional with initiative and independence, maturity and a service oriented mindset.
